We at Chargemate understand the increase in demand for electric cars in the UK, with the UK government pledging to ban the sale of petrol and diesel cars by 2040 in a bid to decrease air pollution. A key issue related to electric cars is the frequency and availability of charge stations. Therefore it is our mission to research and develop holding capabilities for current technology car chargers to make them more accessible on pavements whilst also considering pedestrian flow.

Mark I

The Mark I houses a traditionally wall mounted fastcharger, manufactured by Chargemaster. The concept uses a series of linear actuators to raise the charger from the ground, with a scissor lift mechanism and a hinge providing linear and rotational movement respectively. The system's ascent and descent motions are activated by the user through a compatible app. Underground storage minimises the disruption to pedestrian flow, as well as protects the charger whilst not in use. The Mark I uses a range of techniques such as sealants as well as drainage and a bespoke canopy to mitigate for rain and other weather effects.
